CUSTOM fEEDING

Custom Feeding at Shipwheel

Since 1973, cattle owners have trusted Shipwheel Cattle Feeders to feed and market their livestock with care and integrity. Our fourth-generation operation is built on a reputation for reliable service, expert stockmanship, and a commitment to doing things right.

What Sets Our Custom Feeding Apart:

  • Individualized Care: Our size allows us to provide hands-on attention to every animal and tailor programs to each customer’s needs.

  • Experienced Team: Skilled staff and decades of expertise ensure your cattle are managed with professionalism and precision.

  • Animal Health First: We avoid mass antibiotic treatments, using them only when necessary, aligning with responsible health practices.

  • Optimal Location: A moderate year-round climate and fresh underground water promote healthy cattle.

  • Efficient Logistics: Our proximity to major packing plants keeps transport costs low and turnaround times fast.

At Shipwheel, custom feeding means personalized service, ethical care, and consistent results you can count on.

Honouring the Legacy of Low-Stress Cattle Handling

Long before "low-stress cattle handling" became a buzzword in the industry, Shipwheel was already embracing the philosophy—thanks to a life-changing encounter with the legendary Bud Williams.

In the early 1990s, Blake attended a Holistic Management International conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he first heard Bud speak. Deeply inspired, Blake extended an open invitation for Bud to visit Shipwheel if he ever made it to Canada. Not long after, Bud showed up at our office—and what followed was truly transformational.

For weeks, Bud dedicated 12 hours a day to working alongside our team, generously sharing his wisdom, demonstrating techniques, and guiding us in his unique approach to moving cattle. His methods didn’t just change the way we handle livestock—they shaped our entire philosophy.

To this day, we remain deeply grateful for the knowledge and insight Bud passed on. His approach continues to guide how we handle our animals—promoting calm, cooperation, and trust. We've seen firsthand how these techniques help restore immune function and support long-term health in our cattle.
