Farm fresh nutrient dense eggs for Sale! The Shipwheel hens dine on fresh pasture feasting on a variety of plant species while also chasing down insects, worms etc. In the summer, our laying hens follow the cattle on pasture, free to roam while returning to their “Clucking-hen palace” to lay their eggs. They are moved frequently to new grass to offer the landscape time to heal and to support nutritional superiority of our chickens and the eggs they produce. The hens are not confined and are allowed to peck and scratch where they may choose. They roost and take refuge in the “Clucking-hen palace” during the nighttime, keeping them safe from predators. When the bison ruled the plains, they were followed by vast flocks of various birds, so we mimic this phenomenon on our own land with our cattle and our chickens. In the winter, our hens are housed in a greenhouse. By scratching the straw on the ground, they create their own heat by tunring their manure and creating compost. Shipwheel eggs are uninspected and washed only with water and mild dish soap (no harsh chemicals, acids etc).
