Vermicompost

   Our compost bin is home to roughly 16 thousand head of worm livestock.  Specifically picked for their efficiency in breaking down waste material, Red Wiggler and European Nightcrawlers are surface type worms will double in population every 3-6 months.  Also living in our worm bin, are millions of microbes (microbes are bacteria, fungi, nematodes and protozoa).  Microbes combined with the composting worms are the work horses that help to transform our everyday household waste into vermicompost.   Vermicompost is a mineral rich soil additive that contains enzymes and beneficial microbes that speed up the soil food web to help plants grow and most importantly increase the health of the soil that supports the plants. 

This spring we upgraded to a continuous flow through vermicompost system. It allows us to continuously harvest vermicompost at a much larger rate than before.
